Las Vegas casinos begin to reopen

Las Vegas casinos have begun reopening after they were closed nearly three months ago due to the Las COVID-19 pandemic.

The casinos opened their doors on June 4.

After a temperature check gamblers were allowed inside the casinos and hotels.

Celebrations for the first gamblers who were the first to enter casinos were held at Caesars Palace and Bellagio.

The Las Vegas Strip

The Las Vegas area has over a 100 casinos and out of those only 30 are in the Vegas Strip. Not all the casinos that are in the Vegas strip are open, some of them are closed.  Caesars Entertainment and MGM Resorts International  own most of the casinos on the Vegas Strip. The companies are opening casinos in phases.

Bellagio, MGM Grand and New York-New York which are owned by MGM Resorts have been opened. The casinos opened with limited capacity. Excalibur on the other hand is going to open this week on June 11.  MGM Resorts will continue opening properties every two to four weeks after they open Aria by July 4.

Caesars Entertainment opened Flamingo and Caesars Palace first.  The company went on to open Harrah’s and The Linq promenade. They were opened on June 5 due to the massive demand.

Safety Precautions at Las Vegas Casinos

Companies like MGM Resorts and Wynn Las Vegas have taken safety a step further. They are offering complementary free masks to anyone entering their properties.  Other casinos are however not offering free masks to their customers.

Casino employees have been asked to wear face masks at all times.  Casinos also recommend that all customers wear face masks for their safety.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board gave casinos a list of the required health and safety precautions. The regulator says the safety precautions must be followed before opening.

Some casinos have already disclosed their health and safety plans even though they are not required to do so.

Some casinos are checking the temperature of guests before they enter their premises. Checking temperature is another way of trying to see if the guests have some symptoms of COVID-19. Casinos have started implementing social distancing measures. When you enter the casinos, you will notice that the sitting arrangements at tables have changed.

There shall be only three seats at Blackjack tables and other similar tables. Roulette tables will have four players while Craps games have been limited to only six players.  Some slot machines have been rearranged. Chairs have been removed at some machines that were switched off for social distancing purposes.

Conclusion

Las Vegas casinos have taken safety precautions seriously. While the casinos are doing their part in keeping guest safe, it is also the responsibility of guest to play their part. In order to prevent the spread of the virus, guests have to wash their hands or sanitize their hands as well as making sure they wear masks at all times.
