The United States gambling industry has been slowly reopening. Things are not the same as they were in January. However, there might be some things that have remained the same.Things like slot machines that have been turned on and games that have not changed. things have changed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. There are measures that have been put in place to fight the pandemic. Land based casinos have introduced social distancing measures. Here are the new trends that may make its way into the US gambling industry.

New Operating Standards in Casinos

When casinos started reopening, there were so many different measures that were introduced. Also, casinos increased daily cleanings and sensitization. To add on, there was reduced number of table game seats as well as number of slot machines.Also, there were masks provided for casino staff and sanitizers that were placed in casinos. Additionally, there were discussions regarding the reduction in gaming devices before the reopening of casinos.

One of The Gambling Trends Would be Legalizing New forms of Gambling

There has been speculation that things like sports betting and iGaming will be legalized. Also, the idea behind this would be to try and fill budget gaps.

Gaming managers feel that this is going to happen in many states. Also, they feel this will happen because gambling provides a lot of revenue into state coffers.

DraftKings CEO Jason Robins said there is momentum with sports betting and iGaming legislation in the U.S

“There appears to be momentum with sports betting and iGaming legislation in the U.S. We are continuing to work with regulators to get our products live in states where we do not currently operate,”

“At this time, approximately 14 states are actively considering sports betting legislation. Also, We are hopeful that we will continue to see the momentum as many states are expected to confront budget deficits.”

Penn National Gaming CEO Jay Snowden, said there is a sense of urgency at the state level.

“There’s certainly more of a sense of urgency at the state level of considering the acceleration of legalizing sports betting in states that have not gone down that path,” Snowden said.

CEO of Caesars Entertainment , Tony Rodio  said “You might see jurisdictions moving towards authorizing online gaming.”

“They’re looking to close budget gaps. Seeing how successful it’s now becoming in some of the locations where it’s been authorized,” he said.
