Donaco International, a casino operator is saying business is low as operations at the Cambodian Venue Star Vegas Casino have slowed down. Operations at this gaming venue is on the low due to the pandemic that has killed thousands of people all over the world. Well now people have to play online casino games instead.

The company has gone on to inform all its investors their plans to close down most of the hotel that is at the Star Vegas casino in Poipet. This casino is near the border with Thailand.

The border with Thailand has since been closed and the government announced that it will remain closed up until the 5th of April. This in turn limits the number of visitors to the casino.

Star Vegas Casino is known to be one of the best and most visited casinos.  But recently according to Donaco, the visitation had be around 2,430 players per day over the first 22 days of march. From the first 22 days of February it is down around 15%.

The good news is that the VIP gambling turnover had risen to 9% over the same period. This means that although traffic may have been low, the high roller traffic is still good.

Coronavirus has negatively impacted Donaco’s operations. The shares currently are trading at less than half their value during the beginning of the year.

Donaco has asked employees to go for an unpaid leave from both March and April. Mel Ashton who is the chairman said that although the company regrets the layoffs, it is a very necessary decision looking at the current situation and environment.

Donaco also operates the Aristo International Hotel that is in northern Vietnam. The numbers have also been decreasing. The company has also placed all unnecessary expenditure and all the non-essential staff on hold until further notice.
