BetRivers has launched mobile sports betting in Illinois. This comes after Illinois legalized sports betting on Thursday. The state became the 11th to offer sports betting in the country. The application was launched in the Prairie State.
The Rush Street product is the first retail sports book that opened in the state. Also, the first bet was made at the Rivers Des Plaines Casino.
Chicago-based Rush Street president, Richard Schwartz said the company was exited to make history.
“We are excited to make history in bringing the first online sports book to sports fans in our home state just in time as American sports are coming back into action,” he said.
BetRivers Takes Advantage of Gov Pritzker’s Order
BetRivers was able to launch its online sports betting app after Gov Pritzker issued an order earlier this month.
The order stated that people were allowed to register for mobile sports betting through an app, as long as casinos remained closed. Additionally, It also stated that people could register though a website.Also, the state of Illinois passed its sports betting law last year.Also, people were required to register in person for the first 18 months. Additionally, people were required to go to the partnering casino before they make the first bet.
Besides Illinois, Indiana has also allowed people to register for sports betting online.
Depositing Methods Available
BetRivers has not been able to get everything up and running on the first day. Additionally, credit card and debit card depositing were not available on the first day of registering.
Schwartz credit cards and debit card processing will be available on Monday.
“We were trying really hard to get it ready for launch today, but there’s an extra approval that needs to go through the regulatory process. We’ve been told that Monday debit cards and credit cards will be available,” he said.
